Aleks Krnich was a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to so many.

Born on January 9, 1995, Aleks grew up in Crown Point, Indiana, and carried a deep love for Indiana throughout his life. He was a proud graduate of Indiana University Bloomington and later made his home in Indianapolis, where he worked at Trueblood Real Estate. Real estate was more than a career to Aleks—it was a passion. He loved the industry, the people he met through it, and the community he built along the way. He was a lifelong member of SNF Lodge 170 “Srbija” – Merrillville, Indiana.

Aleks had an infectious love for life and a way of making the people around him feel like family. He was a devoted Indiana sports fan and could often be found cheering on the Pacers, Colts, Hoosiers, and Fever. He loved riding his bike, hiking, traveling, shopping, enjoying arroz con pollo, sharing Kilroy’s breadsticks, and, most of all, spending time with the people he loved.

Family meant everything to Aleks. He gave so much of himself to the people around him and would do anything for his family and friends. Of all the roles he held in his life, being an uncle was perhaps the one he cherished most. His nephews, Beckham and Luka held a very special place in his heart, and the love he had for them was immeasurable.

Aleks will be deeply missed by his mother, Sophie, and his father, Joe; his sisters, Nicole Dixon (Tony Dixon) and Natasha Krnich (Adam Jaksic); and his beloved nephew, Beckham Dixon.

He is also survived by his grandmother Desanka Kasich, Aunt Tanya Kasich, cousins Natalie, Benjy and Luka Grzych, Tiana Kasich, His uncle Ron Krnich and cousin Stephanie Krnich; and his many beloved cousins, Kumovi, and extended family in Serbia and Canada.

Aleks was blessed with an extraordinary circle of friends from Crown Point, Bloomington, Indianapolis, and the Serbian community. These friendships became so much more than friendships—they became family. He loved his friends deeply, showed up for the people he cared about, and left an imprint on countless lives.

Aleks was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Mihajlo and Savka Krnich, Petar Kasich, and his cousin Alexa Krnich.

To know Aleks was to know someone who loved deeply, gave generously, and never hesitated to be there for the people he cared about. His absence will leave an enormous hole in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Though his time with us was far too short, the love, laughter, memories, and friendships Aleks leaves behind will live on forever.

Visitation for Aleks will be Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 9am to 11am at St Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 8700 Taft St., Merrillville with Funeral Services beginning at 11am. V. Rev. Aleksandar Novakovic officiating. Interment Calumet Park Cemetery.
