William Vasilje Sotirovich, aged 102, of New York, passed away on the 8th of January 2026. Born on the 30th of September 1923 in Zemun, Serbia, he was a devoted husband to Moira Sotirovich and a loving brother to Tanja, Danika and Miodrag.
William studied History at Dorchester College and Politics at St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University, U.K. He pursued graduate studies at the University of Chicago and graduated with an M.A. degree from the Divinity School in 1957. He then undertook further study in International Relations and obtained an M.A. degree in Political Science at the University of Chicago. In Hugo Grotius he found an intellectual challenge that accompanied him through life, even centering one of his books on the Dutch jurist ideas.
Throughout the years William was involved in different political ventures, ranging from a political forum at New York University founded by him, to broaden the understanding of international relationships and politics, to organizing a committee entitled “The U.S.A. Space Program and Return to the Moon” whilst working in real estate development and the valuation and exploration of land.

Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions. William always kept a keen interest in politics and history, continuously adding to his extensive knowledge of the topics. His passion for books and knowledge is represented by his cherished personal library and collection of rare books.
He is survived by his wife Moira Sotirovich, as well as friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Memory eternal.
